Free The Planet(!) at OSU

Free The Planet is Awesome.

Mission:

It shall be the purpose of Free The Planet to create change, with emphasis at the Ohio State University, through education and action. Free the Planet promotes and teaches student activism and advocacy in the areas of environment, social responsibility, and cooperation. Free the Planet believes strongly in collective action and active participation in order to achieve goals.

Legacy:

Free the Planet at OSU has been working on campus since 2003. In our history we have brought fair trade coffee to campus, organized for and won the Victoria's Dirty Secret campaign, and successfully demanded a responsible Forest Resources Purchasing Policy--thus sowing seeds of environmental & social responsibility for our flagship University's industrial-scale purchasing. We're currently working on a new climate justice campaign to stop AMP-Ohio from getting public subsidies for building additional dirty, coal-fired plants.

Our group exists for and because of its members. We work on a consensus style of organizing and believe that through shared leadership, people become empowered and effective.
